The materials used in production can be classified as:

Raw Materials

Are the principal and essential materials that enter in greater quantity in the manufacture of a product. The raw material for a furniture maker is wood.

Secondary Materials

Are those materials that enter in lower quantity in the manufacture of a product. These materials are applied together with the raw materials, complementing them or even giving the necessary finishing touches to the products. The secondary materials for a furniture maker are: nails, glue, varnish, hinges, latches etc.

Packing Materials

Are those materials meant for packing the products, before they leave the production area. The packing materials for a furniture maker can be cardboard boxes used for packing disassembled furniture.
