Microsiga Protheus® uses standardized or specific configuration called parameters in its routines.
A parameter is a variable that acts as a key element in executing certain processings. Based on its content, different results can be obtained.
All variables start with prefix “MV_” and influence several operations of the system, such as variable MV_MCONTAB, that indicates which accounting environment be used: CTB = SIGACTB (Management Accounting) or CON = SIGACON (Accounting - available until version Microsiga Protheus® AP6).
Management Accounting environment uses several parameters; some of them are common to other environments in the system. If they are changed, the new content be considered to all environments. Some parameters are merely generic configurations, such as configuration of peripherals (printers), opening dates, currency nomenclatures, etc.
